Whitby Filter Sand

Mortar Sand / Beach Sand (fine)

Fine sand screened to 2mm. It is used by brick/block layers to make the cement for laying concrete blocks and bricks. It’s also popular for beach sand and volleyball courts.

Used in the construction/backfill of septic systems. Other uses include trench bedding for cables and pipes, playground sand, and winter sand for icy roads.

B’ Gravel (Gran ‘B’ Type 1)

A natural sand and gravel product, normally used as a base to build roads and driveways. This product comes directly from the face of the pit; there’s no manufacturing process involved. It’s normally placed a minimum of 12 inches thick. This product works best in dry conditions where the native soil is somewhat stable. It can also be used as structural fill when constructing engineered pads and foundations.

SSM / Sand Fill

This product is fill and overburden material that is stripped off the top of the pit so it has some rocks and clay material mixed within the fill. It’s great for filling large holes or raising the grade of your property. Builders use this product as backfill material.

3″ Minus Crushed Gran B Type 1 – Brown

This material is similar to granular B Type I; however, it contains crushed rock up to 3 inches, giving it a better binding capability when placed and compacted. Normally placed 12 inches deep, it can help bridge wet areas when building roads and driveways. It can also be used as a structural fill when constructing engineered pads and foundations.

3/4″ Granular A – Brown

This product meets the same specs as the 7/8” granular A granite. The difference is it is crushed from natural sand and gravel. It is commonly used as the top layer of a driveway, normally 4 to 6 inches in depth. It can also be placed and compacted prior to pouring concrete slabs/floors.
